Work Philosophy

The goal is to properly identify each patient’s specific problem to establish the best possible therapeutic strategy based on the most innovative and effective treatments. This way, humane and personalized treatment for each of our patients allows us to guarantee the best possible clinical results based on comprehensive and excellent care.

Dr. Minig’s Comprehensive and Multidisciplinary approach

A comprehensive approach consists of a vision of the patient beyond the disease itself. That way, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies can be established, tailored to the needs and expectations of each patient, also taking into account important aspects of their psychological and emotional well-being.

On the other hand, given the different diagnostic and treatment modalities that are in constant evolution, the decision about the best strategy can require the participation of multiple specialists who know the advances in each of the specific areas. Thus, the care of our patients is handled by a multidisciplinary team of doctors specialized in each type of disease.

Our main goal is to give the best care quality to the patient based on professional and personal excellence.

What To Prepare Before An Appointment With Dr. Minig?

  1. Name of the referring doctor or institution.
  2. Your medical records stating previously received treatments. This includes any complementary diagnostic study done before: CT, MRI, biopsy results, etc. Said information is important to avoid performing the same studies again. This will also allow our professionals to make the best decision regarding the most accurate therapeutic strategy for each case in particular.
  3. A list with the names and phone numbers of 2 personal contacts.
  4. A list of questions you wish to make to the specialist at the moment of your consultation.
  5. A pen and paper. Taking notes at the moment of the visit will increase the doctor-patient communication effectiveness and will prevent mistakes or misunderstandings.

This will help with a more pleasant and effective interview with us.

Second Opinion On Gynecologic Conditions

A medical second opinion is a valuable resource when the patient or doctor faces a complex or difficult to treat disease. Due to varying reasons, most people usually have limited access to specialized care.

For us, it is a priority to collaborate with professionals from other institutions and patients who require a specialized opinion. The goal is to establish fast and effective communication; and to work hand in hand in giving the patient professional, warm and humane care.

Once our second opinion is obtained or once the treatment is finished, patients are referred again to their place of origin with future treatment indications or with the rules suggested for follow-up to complete as applicable.

This way, a link is created between the patient’s referring doctor and us, providing the highest comfort to the patient and her family. Nevertheless, we stay in contact in case any issue related to the woman’s health comes up in the future.

The patient as well as her doctor can contact us to get a specialized second opinion.

The gynecologic cancer specialty is long and intense, but it is worth it.

I remember when I was a child, I asked my father persistently to take me to a surgery. Until one day, when I was 5, he had no choice but to take me. I think it was an amazing experience and I had no doubt I wanted to become a doctor.

During my med school years at Universidad Católica de Córdoba, Argentina, I became rapidly involved as human anatomy and dissection professor where I was able to learn the basic notions of surgery. There, I perceived I had a special sensitivity towards oncologic patients, and I realized I wanted to devote my life to the study and treatment of people with cancer.

Then I moved to Buenos Aires, where I completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and was able to conduct my first scientific studies and publications.

When I was 29 years old, I got a scholarship for a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy from 2006 to 2008. I remember that was where I acquired the knowledge needed to perform high complexity gynecologic surgeries for advanced ovarian cancer with peritoneal carcinomatosis, as well as surgical procedures using laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Also, I was able to continue conducting research and stay in contact with the main global referents in my area of specialization.

After that, I went to the National Cancer Institute of the United States, where I obtained a scholarship for a postdoctoral fellowship until 2010. There I was able to conduct multiple research projects to determine the genetic causes of gynecologic cancer.

Certainly, I had arrived at the most important institution in the world for cancer research. I was fortunate to get the best out of that experience and learn about cancer genetics with all its therapeutic options.

At 33, I moved to Madrid, Spain, where I rapidly launched a gynecologic cancer unit that got great recognition after only 4 years, both in Madrid and in the rest of Spain.

After my experience in Madrid, in 2014, I moved to Valencia to be Chief of the Gynecology Department at Instituto Valenciano de Oncología, where we were able to develop a service, leader both locally and internationally.

Currently, I am a Gynecology Professor at CEU Cardenal Herrera in Valencia, Spain, and the author of many international scientific articles and book chapters, as well as a speaker at various Spanish and international congresses.

Ultimately, I consider myself a Gynecologic oncologist  passionate and an expert in the surgical treatment for gynecologic cancer and other benign conditions requiring high complexity surgeries.

I am personally in charge of treating my patients from a humane, close, and excellent perspective so their whole surgery process is as natural, effective, and safe as possible.
